i used to really love hetalia but tbh the fans really ruined the fun of being involved in fandoms actively. i once just happened to reblog a post of england and baby america fanart and tagged it w their shipname and someone came at me for it saying i shouldnt have done that but i didnt say any problems cos i dont really see their shipname as romantic like just the two together in one pic and then they got mad called me a p*do for it and how they were abused by family so its not okay. i was so overwhelmed by all of it. i was just 14 so i had no clue what to do like even after i explained i didnt see it like that they insisted i do. even after i felt so guilty about it (it weirdly turned into a usuk va fruk and how i shouldnt ship usuk atall 😭😭 ) thankfully a friend of mine reassured me that i shouldnt think too much about n that all the characters are hundreds of years old anyways.

i have romantic feelings for france, idk i just think he’d be such a sweet lover and my favorite thing about hetalia is historical fics...yes of course they are not accurate but thats not what i came for im here for the angst, drama and on and off romance of humanized countries!!

I read “Wilder Girls” by Rory Power, but I still haven’t come up with my personal review for it. I would definitely read it again, but I found the ending horrendously unsatisfying, despite it being a totally respectable form of writing.

Three random things that make me happy

1. My cat Cocoa, I wish pretty shitty to her since I got her when I was seven and was entirely not ready for a cat, but I love her so much and watching her come out of her shell the past decade makes me so incredibly happy.

2. Animal Crossing, I like curling up in a comfy chair and just playing around, I can only play In short bursts before I get bored, but I love her all the same.

3. Youtube videos, it seems dumb, but they make me feel less alone and it helps quiet the fuzz in my head.

4. An extra bc I can and it’s a recent love: Homemade matcha lattes!!!! I got some matcha powder recently and it’s so good to make into a latte

If you think amecan is wrong you should feel the same for usuk and franada and canuk. Because they arent "canon" twins, they just "coincidentally" look like twins and were adopted[colonized] by the same dad. So if you feel england having two adopted kids, them being adopted step siblings, and any of them being in romantic relations isn't wrong.. i think you should stop smoking what you're smoking.

america and canada are seen as brothers by almost the entire fandom - hell, i was sure it was canon. ships like usuk have a lot more debate around them.

i’m not saying i support them. i, personally, cannot stand usuk or franada or any of that for the same reasons as you. 

but when i went through my shipping tags, i had to stop and ask myself what content other people want to see. there are still a large number of people in this fandom that interpret the relationships between france+england and america+canada very differently. there always have been, and always will be.

i guess what i’m trying to say is that the lines around shipping in this fandom aren’t very clear cut. what i personally think is wrong and what other people think is wrong may be very different. i hate usuk, but i know that many people see nothing wrong with these kinds of ships. 

this event - not blog, just one event that’s carried on wayyy too long - was not made for me and my personal opinions, but for people to request the content they wanted. other people interpret the relations between characters very differently and i don’t want to cause any division. the purpose of this blog and event is not for ship discourse; in fact, it was for the opposite

while i personally dislike the ships, for the sake of this blog i’m going with how they are viewed by the majority of the fandom: those that have no debate (either “completey fine” or “completely not”) are easy. but with ships like these, the lines are blurred. so i came up with a response i feel reflects the conflicting attitudes within the fandom: i would do the requests and allow them to stay tagged, even though i personally dislike them and do not support them, as long as they had extra “blacklist” tags

not everyone has the same interpretations and in a fandom as chaotic as hetalia, the lines are hard to define. there are arguments for and against for almost every ship. if the fandom finally comes to a full consensus, i would gladly remove the usuk/similar ship posts. but its been so long, im not sure it’s ever going to happen

if you dislike this attempt at a solution, i’m not stopping you from unfollowing this blog. my intention is not to make anyone uncomfortable. if you have any better suggestions, i’d be happy to hear them and perhaps take them on board. but if you think coming into my inbox anonymously to degrade me over ships i don’t even like is the solution, you’re just making it harder to find a compromise
